Lazarus Manchester FAQs

General Information:

What/where is the venue?
Our venue of choice is Bar 21, a fabulously geeky club/bar located in the heart of Manchester.

10 Thomas Street,
Northern Quarter,
Manchester M4 1DH

When is the event taking place?
February 25th 2017
12:30 – 9pm.

How will we get in?
We are using Bar 21’s downstairs club area for Lazarus – look out for signs!  We’ll ask to see a confirmation of your ticket and some ID at the club doors.  You’ll then be provided with your personalised event pack and your stamp, and you’ll be good to go!

Is there an age limit?
Under 18’s are strictly not allowed from 9pm onwards.  We’ll be finished around then in any case, but keep it in mind!  All under 15’s must be accompanied by an adult; ages 15+ may attend unaccompanied.  Under 18’s are strictly prohibited from purchasing alcohol.

Are children allowed?
Whilst we will allow babes in arms at parent’s discretion, but due to both the nature of the show and its themes and the venue, we seriously discourage attendees from bringing children under 12 years of age. Please feel free to discuss this with us if you feel you have exempting circumstances. Please also keep in mind that apart from babes in arms, all attendees must have a ticket.

Will there be food?
The venue has an extensive menu that we’re sure you’ll love.  You can find it here

What about drinks?
We’ll have our own bar for exclusive use, and we absolutely encourage you to take advantage of it to your heart’s content!  We’ll even have some bespoke themed cocktails and mocktails for you to enjoy.

Can I cosplay?
Yes!  We wholeheartedly encourage it!  Of course, it’s not a requirement in the slightest – do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.

Will you accept walk-ins?
Provided there are still tickets left on the day, yes.  Keep up with our social media pages for updates on ticket numbers!

Is there disabled access?
We are pleased to say we have gone back to our venue and have been able to sort out a solution for those needing wheelchair access.  For those interested, it works like this: there’s a lift that goes from the back of Bar 21’s office up to the apartment building next door.  We will need the person’s name in advance, and then they will just need to ask at the bar so staff can send the lift up for them. The rest of the flooring is flat once they come out of the lift.

One point of note: the disabled wheelchair access toilet is upstairs.

A bit more information regarding the club itself: the main flight of stairs leading downstairs has around 10 steps, then another small flight of three steps at the bottom, both with substantial weight-bearing rails all the way on both sides.

If you have any other access requirements, please contact us and we will try our best to accommodate your needs.

No guests???
Trust us, we would love to be able to invite guests, but right now we’re but a small group of people with a limited budget.  For the moment we want to focus on creating the best possible fan-gathering events that we possibly can, but with your support, who knows!

How much are tickets?
Our early bird tickets are £13, and general entry tickets are £15.  Early bird tickets are very limited, and general tickets are fairly limited as well, so get in there quick!

What does the entry fee go towards?
The entry fee helps us in that with it we can book our venues, give all attendees a personalised entry pack stuffed full of Lazarus goodies, and bring you a better event experience overall.  We don’t consider our event to be ‘just a meet-up’ – we’re tailoring it and making sure that we stuff it full of exciting things for our attendees to do and experience!

Any profits we make will go straight back into our events so that we can take future Lazarus events onward and upwards towards bigger, exciting things!

Note: the ticket price does not include food and drink.

Do I need to buy tickets in advance?
Yes.  There may be tickets on the door, but then again, there may not be.  We’ll do our best to update you on our remaining ticket status, and we’ll make an announcement if tickets are sold out.

Also be aware that we are giving personalised entry packs to all of our attendees who book online.  Those who turn up on the day aren’t guaranteed one!

How do I get my tickets?

Click here to go straight to our Eventbrite event page to buy your tickets!  You’ll receive a confirmation e-mail once you’ve booked.  If you don’t receive an email within a week (don’t forget to check your spam mail) then don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Do I need to print my tickets?
The primary method of bringing your ticket is via your mobile phone, but printed tickets are totally fine.

I’ve lost my e-ticket!

Don’t panic!  First, check your spam mail, it might have gotten lost in there.  If not, get in touch with us and we’ll help you out.

I booked a ticket, but I’ve found out I can’t come – can I get a refund?
Sorry, tickets are non-refundable, but they will be transferable.

Why Manchester?
Manchester is known as the ‘capital of the north’, and for good reason!  For one thing, it’s a fantastic travel hub, with Manchester Picadilly ranking amongst the busiest train stations in the UK.  As well as that, it’s an incredibly diverse city, probably reflected best in its huge range of food selections.  If you’re craving it, chances are you can find it.  It’s also home to the northern quarter, full to bursting with alternative culture, and Canal Street, one of the largest gay villages around the world.

In our market research, Manchester was among one of the top cities of choice, alongside London.  We’re only small right now, and we’re going to need your support to move up to bigger events, and let’s face it, the south isn’t cheap.  Manchester is a major, popular travel hub with a price range that we can accommodate for our first venture!  As long as we get the support we need, we plan to take Lazarus across the country after that.  If you have location suggestions, let us know!

Getting Around
If you’re just visiting, then you’ll likely find everything you need right within the centre of Manchester, right next to its main train station, Manchester Piccadilly.  That said, if you want to explore and don’t feel like walking (although with Oxford Road being one long straight line, it’s easy to do!), then Manchester is a fantastic city for public transport, whether it’s via bus, tram or train!  You can find all the information regarding public transport you need here.

Taxis are also abundant in Manchester, offering very decent rates.  From personal experience we can recommend Street Cars or Union Cars.

There’s a huge variety of hotels to choose from in Manchester, and a good deal are within walking distance of Bar 21.  Even if you choose one that isn’t, taxi prices in Manchester are very reasonable.  Here are a few of the cheaper choices closest to our venue.  Prices are for one night.

Lower Turks Head – £65
Easy Hotel Manchester – £65
Britannia Sachas Hotel – £65
Premiere Inn Manchester Central

Premiere Inn Manchester Central (Arena/Printworks) – from £38.50

Plus many more to choose from!

Wherever you look in Manchester, there’s an abundance of food and drinks options to choose from!  Manchester Picadilly Gardens alone is host to a Pizza Express, Ask, Zizzi, Nandos, Subway, Starbucks, Greggs, Wetherspoons.. and that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

The Northern Quarter, where our venue is located, is no different.  Here are just a few options right next door to Bar 21 (which of course has its own extensive menu we encourage you to use!):
